Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) was released on the 19th of October 2005.

Exchange Server 2003 SP2 offers new features and improvements to Exchange Server 2003. Some of these new features include support for mobility and message hygiene, improvements to address performance and reliability with public folders and with database size restrictions (read Changing Store Limits in Exchange 2003 SP2).

Exchange Server 2003 SP2 also offers Direct Push (which maintains an open connection between the mobile device and the Exchange server) and Remote Wipe (which allows to delete sensitive data from a lost or stolen mobile device).

SP2 also introduces Intelligent Message Filter v2, and Sender ID, both helping administrators block more spam.

Improvements were also made with the Public Folder management, including better replication and ACL control.

Other features include the ability to totally disable MAPI access for specific users, better DSProxy Referral Mechanism, and improvements in Offline Address Book performance.
