I have recently installed a new server 2008 R2 AD/DNS/DHCP server. Unlike to old NT backup software of server 2000/03 the new server backup utility isn't that nice

can anybody perhaps recommend a server backup software that is
1. easy to install/ use
2. can backup systems state
3. relative value for money

Currently we're choking the hell our of our little ADSL2+ connection, and we'd give a small nation of love to anyone who can come up with a substantially quicker and more effective method.

Beyond the marginal increase in cable, is this thing even possible from this little country of ours? Are we better off dumping the data to drives, shipping the drives, and uploading them overseas? At our current rate we're looking at weeks worth of uploading.

Any help or suggestions will be met with only the greatest of appreciation!

apologies, i didn't know what category this may fit into.

I'm about a deploy 30 WP8 handsets across our business. They will use EAS policy, but to enable our users to backup to skydrive and share data etc, a microsoft (live) account is required.
Having set one up for myself and tested it, not extensively but i'm happy with it so far, i'm now faced with a dilemma;

Do i have to setup a MS account for every WP8 user? Or is there such a thing as a business account whereby we use one single account that acts as a kind of umbrella for maybe sub-accounts within it? If that makes any sense.
My understanding of it is that MS accounts seem like a consumer based account, asking for age, gender etc etc.
One global account would be great, but then i guess when using skydrive everyone will be able to see everything that's on every phone (which can't happen) as everyone will be logged into the same account.

Without me going in circles trying to explain further (and possibly failing), if you understand my dilemma, i'd appreciate any advise you guys have.

The screen I'm looking at getting x 3 of for triple screen setup has HDMI & DVI-D inputs.

Can I use an an adapter to convert from my DVI-I port to DVI-D screen input? My question isn't can I get the adapter, but will it work.

I am buying a new laptop to replace my old one ... I kinda just got everything on my old laptop about right and it's also a 120GB SSD SATA III and I'd prefer that to the new one's 500GB ordinary SATA. I don't need much disk space and an SSD is faster, uses less power and harder to screw up.

What I want to know is, is there any way to transfer the disk from new to old so the new laptop will run on the SSD instead without going through the pain of a complete system rebuild?

I have a very strange thing happening with my "default programs".
On a 2008 server (RDT) I have Nitro set up as a default program for pdf files.
Users log in remotely and when they try to open a pdf file it works just fine.
But every now and then, they receive this message: " no program associated with this file type".
I look under default programs, and for pdf it says unknown program, I change it back to "Nitro" it works for a while and then same problem, default info for pdf is lost. :roll:
It only happens for the remote users ...

Any suggestions ? It is very strange ... I log into the server under each individual
user, set the default for pdf, works for one day, week ... and then back to the same problem.

Sorry for posting an old DOS question xD. I have changed the shop computer of my customer, which was an old 200mhz MMX with 64mb of RAM, under Windows 95. He has using the Win95 DOS for his old cad software to print and cut with his Roland machines. So basically, I cloned the drive with Acronis, to a AMD 4400+ with an A8N32-SLI and 2x 512mb of ram.


The issue is that I can go in DOS (not win95 but this we don't care), but there is an issue with the memory. I cannot get the same amount available to the software than on the 200 MMX.

As you can see, there is not that much ram available. only 399 (while the other is like over 400). Also, Extended ram is smal (2mb) and no reserved memory. the other computer with emm386.exe RAM gets more than this computer, if I put RAM after. Cannot find out out to have more ram :/

The one possible answer was that dreaded experts-exchange, which is of course subscriber only and hides its responses from guest users.

So my issue is: the sort order is not saving. I have a user that has to keep clicking the column header "date" to keep reordering it by date newest first whenever they close the mail tab and reopen it. It's getting close to renewal time for me on Technet Pro which I started getting because it made sense at the time ... I have a domain (so Server 2008) and several client systems. That's Windows 7 64 Pro and Office 2010 on each.

I think I'm going to find it difficult to find the money for it this year (still might, not sure) and obviously that will mean I can't get any more stuff from Technet. What I can't figure out is what the legal status is for systems with OS & applications installed ... can anyone explain it in simple, non-legal, terms?

My daughter requires one and she has been searching the Net but the reviews of some that have adequate specs get more negative than positive reviews.
