I have a problem with a windows 2003 sbs server that I'm hoping someone will be able to help.

The problem is as follows:

Some email from external domains cannot reach my users. There is no AV/FW enabled on the server so we can rule that out. At times the sender will receive a NDR but not always.

The server was inherited by me so I can only provide information as to the setup. Besides the above the server has been working with no other issues.

Email flow is as follows: sender->SPAM Filtering by email address provider->server.

I can supply server IP and SPAM Filter IP to check ptr and mx records if requested.

Thanks,
Christos

Hi

I wonder if anyone else has seen the following scenario?

We look after a company who run a SBS 2003 server. They needed to change from a .com email address to .co.uk
So, using the guides here at Petri, I added the Domain to the Exchange, making the new .co.uk the default.

The .com emails arrived by POP3 connectors, but for the .co.uk we use SMTP and the MX record points to their router.

All is seemingly working well, people get their new emails from this set up, except for the following:
They have some hosted websites that have contact forms, to stop 'advertising' the email addresses and being spammed etc.
So, you fill in your name and email address and comments/message and submit.
However, these email never arrive, they can be found by going to the webmail of the Domain host, but they never leave there.
I don't know why, or how to troubleshoot this.
Can anyone help?

Thanks
Neil

First poster here! Please dont get angries with me :)

I have a client computer that was disconnected from the domain from the Domain Controller. The computer's account was reset. Easy enough to go into the computer using a local account and disjoin/rejoin to the domain, however it seems no-one remembers the password to the local account.

The data that is stored on the local machine's hard drive is important so we are trying to recover it. I've tried to go into Manage My Computer on the Domain Controller (using an administrator login of course) and Connect to another computer, but that just gives me a security error. I can ping the client, so I know its being seen. This obviously means that I cannot log in with a domain admin account due to it not being on the domain.

Any thoughts on how I can either 1) Unlock the local user account, or 2) Disjoin/rejoin it to the network so I can log in with a domain admin account, or 3) Somehow bypass the login part using some hacker whatever to retrieve the data. I can re-image the machine later if it breaks or whatever. I just reeeally want that data.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I'm trying to get Remote Web Workplace running on an SBS 2003 server.

There wasn't an SSL certificate installed, I've now installed one (a freebie from Startcom). If I access it internally (localhost) it works and the certificate shows (though warnings are issued due to the server name mismatch). But if I access it externally it fails, with the browser reporting it can't establish a secure connection.

Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer reports issues with SSL. I've ran some online SSL checkers which report no SSL certificate. Port 443 is open and being forwarded to the server.

I'm at a loss as to what to check next. Any pointers?

I recently setup a domain. The domain was called company.local. Now the users on the domain aren't able to get their email using company.com. It's my understanding that the DNS should only resolve company.local queries and then use root servers to resolve anything else. The DNS server forwards any other domains to root DNS servers, but when I try and resolve company.com the server times out for some reason. The reason the .local domain was used was to avoid such conflicts. Anyone know why this is happening, or how to resolve it? This is a SBS 2003 Server.

Hi all,

am new here so please be patient with me :)

Current Environment:

Currently we have a single VLAN, switched "very small business" ;) network infrastructure and I am planning on upgrading to a small enterprise level - probably a collapse Core-Distributing, Access architecture sort of thingy and implementing different VLANs for different departments and a dedicated “Data Network” with its separate, dedicated backup network - to avoid backup traffic taking away bandwidth form the actual network.

But we come to this in a future question  !

Currently I have my W2k3 SBS SP2 server (PE2900) connected via one of its Broadcom NetXtrem II Gigabit Adapter to a 3Com Baseline 2816 SFP switch (there is also another unsued Intel PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server Adapter but lets concentrate on the teaming of same vendors for the moment ;) )

I was going to setup and test NIC teaming with the 2x Broadcom cards on the server and link aggregation on the switch ports, where the teamed server adapters are plugged into, to give the server a bit more bandwidth to the network.

Question:
Will/should NIC teaming work ok on a W2k3 SBS server? Does anybody have it setup/what are the experiences with it?

What do I have to watch out for/include in my consideration. I have the BACS Suite 3 already installed on my server and did a quick tests but had connectivity issues: sort of like "lost" network conectivety to and from the server !?

Does SBS2003 support ok multiple internal networks/subnets(Vlan)

Any tips, suggestions and info is very welcome and thanks a mill in advance for all of hem!
Regards
Andre

Companyweb has suddenly stopped working , page not found , DNS error , the usual type of error message etc. If I use the IP instead i get the same message. The local OWA has also quit working on http:\\10.0.0.2\exchange

This is pointing to an IIS issue, I re started all the services but still no access. I also created a new webpage in IIS on port 888 and put a basic index.htm file in C:\websites. This does not work either. No apparent error messages in the log files.

IP of server 10.0.0.2, DNS is 10.0.0.2 and gateway 10.0.0.1 - Internet works fine

Any ideas ?
