I have a big and importat question that i have to find soultion quickly.
We got in our company VMware infrastructure working
with Windows server 2008 R2 ent.
we have 500 servers online And Users from our company are connect to that Servers from theirs computers they got with win7 ent now they forgot to logout from the sessions on the VM's.
now that problem is when i open my eyes on the morning I got phone called that say
hey....... my Accout has lockedup.. can you please unlock? and i unlock from AD.

So how Can I make that happen.. when the user has connect to the server and forgot to logout then the name of him to be written TXT.
or another way to send him message "hey you have to logout from VM number1"
because we cannot disconnect every user bacause they have documents are opened.

so if someone have a soultion thats may be happiness for all the company.

Thanks alot.

Everytime we run the process that is supposed to launch MS Word and merge the document it "hangs". But I can see that winword has started in the background for the user. It seems that the RemoteAPP session is not able to call winword and interact with it.

Do I have to go back to a traditional terminal services where the user connected to a "desktop" session or is there a setting that I have missed that will allow winword to be called into an active session for a different remoteAPP?

Thanks

Terminal Session Registry

Hello,

I am hoping this would be the correct section of the forum to post, but I am looking to attempt to try to resolve a question I have about editing a sessions registry. Here is what I have and am attempting to do:

Setup:
I have 2 Server 2008 machines that are running NComputing so that it virtualizes 15 machines in the classroom. The students upon loggin in appear to login to a windows 7 machine.

Desire:
I would like to be able to edit the registry for each logged on user in order to enable proxy server and set the server to 127.0.0.1:80 in order to shut them down on the internet. If the class has something that only needs them typing on an excel spreadsheet and does not require them going online, this would hender them from doing such.

I realize there are GPO settings to do this, however, this isnt something that I am looking to have predetermined at times. Perhaps they are just trying to be sneaky. I have Smart Shield installed on the machines and can push a small (50kb) batch file to each machine I desire. This is how I was looking to stop thier access. I have a .bat file that has the following code:

@echo off
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\In ternet Settings" /v ProxyEnable /d 1 /t REG_DWORD /f
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\In ternet Settings" /v ProxyServer /d "127.0.0.1:80" /t REG_SZ /f
taskkill /F /IM iexplore.exe /T

This enables the proxy settings in IE, as well as sets it to my 127.0.0.1:80, and then kills all Internet Explorer windows in order to have the settings take effect the next time they attempt their sneakiness. (I know that I could just yell at them to get off, but seeing as how I am also IT in the district, I have alot of other things that keep my attention on a daily basis).

So, I have it going to the HKCU, but I suppose that it doesnt run on each current user. I tested the script, and it killed their sessions but did not prohibit them from surfing the web on their next attempt. I have also tried the HKLM directory.

I know my code works as I test it on my machine, but not when it is run remotely.

Any help on fixing what I currently have or perhaps another way to do such. I dont want to log the kids off for the registry to change or a logon script to have to work, because they may have unsaved work. I simply want to stop their internet access and give it back on a time frame that I decide.

Thanks!

Richard

OK, I'm trying to set up RD Web access on a 2008 R2 server, and this version requires you to log in before you even get to the part where you specify which server you want to connect to via RDP. I followed the steps from the following link, to no avail: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/...nnections.aspx

I also turned on Windows Authentication in IIS (I also disabled SSL for gits and shiggles), but I still get a logon screen. Now, I do want users to have to log on when they get to their destination server, but I'd rather skip the one to get to Web Access. The only people that will have access to this will be on the domain.

What am I missing?

Let me know if you need any more information.

If not, is there a way to put a clear text password in the rdp file? these are going to be very temporary rdp files with random passwords so it isn't terrible if the password is clear text.

Thanks.

Hello all, this is my first post here and I do hope someone might be able to shed a little light onto the subject. Allow me to give a little background to better understand the situation.

First off, I started working with this company in Nov. of last year. They had a pre-exsisting network and server setup with Remote Desktop and RDWeb with Windows 2008 R2 as a "Backup" of their "cloud" services. I have been out of work for nearly 2 years and have been out of touch with the windows industry since vista. (Still hardcore XP man, lol.)

I had been hired on as IT assistance due to their IT tech being released recently and found a googleplex of a network with a lot of misconfigurations. Most I was fortunate to iron out, afterwards we had decided to update the cloud backup to Windows Server 2012.

Everything is basically mirrored from the original machine, and I had upgraded the backup to 2012 after splitting the RD role away from the AD role on the physical server with a virtual 2012 server.

My question is, is there something that I could have mis-configured that would cause Internet Explorer to allow RDWeb users to use their own credentials when logging in using a RemoteApp, but on Chrome and Firefox the credentials are changed to mine?

Has anyone else run into this problem with a basic out-of-the-box config of RDWeb with other web browsers using different login credentials?

Thanks in advance for anyone's help or guidance. It is very much appreciated!
