Also, it pointed to the same public share we all use. Basically, this one user had a G: drive and a X: drive, same directory listing.

None of my other users see X:. If the end user in question logs into another station, X: does not appear. Group policy and scripts have no X: drive mapping settings.
Is there a way (perhaps a log on the Win7 machine) that shows who mapped a drive and when?

The end user is convinced they were hacked and I need evidence one way or the other.

Hello,

I've been trying to to fix a problem I encounter on my laptop by re installing the operating system (W7 ultimate). After choosing the upgrade option I get a message telling to replace the media as Windows started to use another one (That ain't the syntax but the concept of the message).

To overcome the problem, I tried upgrading to windows 8 with a compatible version for the already existing system. I also tried to find where does the system keeps the information regarding that previous attempt to setup the operating system, including editing some registry keys.

Can anybody please tell what has to be done so that I will be able to proceed with setup? In addition, should I slipstream the installation disk for the a case that SP1 has been already installed on target machine ?

Hi guys

As usual, some help would be really appreciated.
I have issues printing some pdf documents in windows7. Especially the 64 version.

It takes ages(about 10 x longer if maybe 20 x ) to spool the document either to the local HP Laserjet (with generic driver from windows update) and to our newly purchased network machine. Konica Minolta C224. Sometimes printing a pdf from email attachment does not even print, then you have to re-print again for something to come through

I have disabled firewalls, anti virus. Fiddled around with some spoolers settings (spooling directly to printer). I think this is a Microsoft issue. The previous laptop with Windows XP and the same HP Laserjet(with genuine HP driver) worked fine.

I doubt it is a reader problem as i experience this on Adobe + some other pdf reader bundled with the new HP laptop.

Some reading brought up a Postscript drivers vs PCL driver. Dont know if anyone has experienced this issue before.

thanks

Hi Everyone,

I am having problems offering remote assist to Win 7 pc's in our domain. We are running a 2003 AD domain and running win 7 professional.

When I try to offer remote assist from a Win 7 machine to another, I get a message saying offer to help could not be sent.

I've looked at heaps of different pages about this same problem and I still can't seem to figure out why it's not working.

I have a GPO which has the domain admins (me) enabled to offer remote assistance, firewall is turned off on both machines, anti virus is off etc.

If I am logged into the client pc as the local (non domain) administrator, I can then offer remote assist from my machine ok. So, it seems like it is some form of permissions etc.

I have even gone so far as creating a testing OU to put this machine into with only one GPO applied - the remote assist gpo. But still no joy.

I've tried asking this question on the Microsoft forums but no luck - hoping someone here might have some clues.

Thanks

P.S We have a test network and I can remote assist to Win 7 machines ok on there. The only real difference I can tell is that the schema has been upgraded to put a 2008 R2 server on there.
