I am presently researching how to set up DHCP Split Scope with a Delay on Secondary Server to support our network. Presently we have one DHCP server that is a virtual server. I planned to create a second DHCP server on a box for fault tolerance. We recently had a situation where the user could not reach the DHCP server and were unable to connect to resources. I have done this at a previous job and it worked fine, but that was in the days of not may vlan. We have many vlan and I plan to use the split-scope configuration wizard in Windows Server 2008 R@.

Has anyone had experience with using this tool? Did the split scope work well with multiple Vlans? Our Vlans are working well with our present DHCP server. If anyone has some guilder lines that would be helpful? I did find a step by step guide on how to set this up, but it didn't really mention anything about multiple vlan.

Thanks

Hi ,

I am having a network of 500 Virtual Machines in Citrix Environment. Now i am having a only a single outgoing gateway for internet traffic.

Now i want to establish a things like this...

Now , here they are using 5 different DC and about 100 Clients in each. Now they are using only a single isp connection ...so they are having a single outgoing gateway.

So they want to implement a 5 Different DHCP Server their network , which will be able to provide the ip configuration in each different domain and their workstations which are the member of their own domain accordingly. but the question is that , they are using a single router and single outgoing gateway.

Here is the configuration.

DC1 : abc.com
192.168.2.254
255.255.255.0

GW 192.168.2.1 ( Router IP )

DNS 192.168.2.254
4.2.2.2

DC2 xyz.com

192.168.2.253
255.255.255.0

GW 192.168.2.1 ( Router IP )

DNS Config 192.168.2.253
4.2.2.2

Now they need each 5 dc need to be in separate IP Subnet

abc.com ( 192.168.2.x)
xyz.com ( 192.168.3.x)

but they all can use the same gw as 192.168.2.1 ( router IP )

So can we implement this scenario using a L3 Switch...and how to implement. Do we need to create per port own DHCP ?

please help...

Thanks...

Kathy....

THe DHCP service has detected that it is running on a DC and has no credentials configured for use with Dynamic DNS registrations initiated by the DHCP service....
Event ID 1056

I have done some reading and technet microsoft recommended me putting in a domain priviledge username (i assume administrator) and the domain name and password of administrator

Another guy added that the DHCP on AD server automatically runs as a network service, so dont know if necessary to worry then.

So should i, or shouldnt i add credentials for the IPv4 in DHCP and if so, can i add the administrator account?

thanks
