Default USB to Centronics leads

Has anyone had any success in connecting the old Centronics Printers to a PC that only has USB Ports with the suitable leads. A pal of mine and I have had no success. I cannot even get the Printer Driver for an old HP DeskJet 6122 to recognize the printer let alone printout.

A clever programmer has even produced simple code that should produce just test printouts without any driver installed, but it fails to work on this printer with the USB to Centronics lead.

Are you using a USB to Parallel/Centronics adapter?

Sort of as I was using a USB/Centronics Print Server. http://www.dlink.com.au/products/?pid=322

If you are not having any luck with usb to parallel (I have had mixed results with usb-old port connectors -- sometimes excellent, sometimes crap), consider a network box

Thanks Ossian but forgive my ignorance and limited knowledge. What is a network box, and what do I look for on EBay.

My new router has a USB port is as at http://help.orange.co.uk/orangeuk/su...ersonal/669335

It has a USB port, but I supposed it cannot be used to also connect to the printer.
