Hi all,
I am a bit of a DB novice but I have created a new Database on a SQL Express 2008 and when trying to connect to it from SQL Server Mgmt Studio from another machine I can browse the name of the PC it is on but not the name of the instance. I have a number of other SQL DB's dotted around where I do not have this issue. Using SQL Server Mgmt Studio locally I can see the name and the instance. I have done the following yet still having no joy:- 1. Started the SQL Server Browser 2. Ensured the Shared Memory and TCP/IP Network Configs are enabled under Protocols for SQLEXPRESS 3. Ensured the Shared Memory, TCP/IP and Named Pipes are enabled under Native Client Protocols 4. Turned off the Firewall 5. Disabled AV 6. Ensured 'Allow Remote Connections to this Server' is ticked. Any other ideas? Thanks Jim |
