Move Exchange 2010 from one physical server to Another.
Hello,
I currently have an Exchange 2010 server that is running on hardware that I would like to retire. How can I go about installing Exchange 2010 on new hardware and transferring all the roles and data from the existing installation to the new one. |

Add new server to domain
Install exchange 2010 with MBX, HT and CAS Create Databases, then move mailboxes Change HT connectors to use new server If you have a CAS array on old server, add new server and remove old one -- job done If not, configure OWA etc in new CAS server, re-issue certificate if you have a 3rd party one and point clients to new server (Actually, create a CAS array first and point clients to the array for the next time you do this!)

Strongly suggest that before you proceed that you update the old server to Exchange 2010 SP2 with rollup 3, and then have the same on the new server.
This is due to a major change in the way that RPC Client access is handled which will make your life a lot easier if you don't have an RPC CAS Array in place: http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/...y-changes.aspx As already pointed out though, an RPC CAS Array would also be recommended. Simon.
