Default find out the build of vmware tools ESXI 5.0

Hello All
we have vCenter installed manaing ESXI 5.0. we are trying to install vmware tools on the linux machines running centos OS. we have mounted the CD ROM and now we need to extract the tar file and install the package.

the issue i have is find out the version and build file that located in the mounted CD ROM so i can copy that file to temp folder. cp /mnt/cdrom/VMwareTools-<version>.tar.gz /tmp/

if someone knows how to either view the list of the files within the CD ROM or how do i find out which version mounted i appriciate that...

thank you

Try the "ls -l" command

This will list all files in the current directory

As far as i'm aware the VMware tools install is matched to the version of ESXi that you are running.

What is you version of ESXi??

Version numbers of tools.

http://packages.vmware.com/tools/versions

How to install the tools.

http://www.thewebmasterscafe.net/web...-on-linux.html

Once you have the tools installed open the vSphere client and browse to the VM. Click on the Summary tab and it will tell you if the version you are using is current.
