Default Hardware Requirement of exchage 2007 installtiontion and

Hi all

I'm planning to do a complete overhaul of a messaging infrastructure for a company. They currently have about 100 users expanding to 200+ in the next few years. Currently using hosted POP but management is really itching to put Exchange into action for OWA, shared calendars/contacts/tasks.

Also i configure AD in same server for example:

Active Directory Domain controller + exchange sever 2007 in same machine (server)

1. I need witch processor its capable to handling all those (domain controller services and Exchange Server 2007 services ) for 200 user

2. Motherboard

3. Required Hard disk space for mailing and AD

4. RAM

For Backup , Load Balancing, RAID(hardware OR Software ) ,Clustering, which better options?

Please suggest capable solution

Regards,
San

Why would you want to go to Exchange 2007 when 2010 has been out for some time and is far superior?

Also you are very strongly advised NOT to put Exchange onto a DC -- keep them separate.

I strongly recommend you get an Exchange and AD consultant in to review your current and planned infrastructure and make proper recommendations for your environment. There is a lot more information needed before any hardware recommendations can be made. If you dive in without proper thought now, you will hit problems in the future.

Edit - you could start with the Mailbox Role Reqirements Calculator, but as said, it does not replace a consultant!

For that number of users I wouldn't even consider putting Exchange on to a domain controller. Do you not already have a Windows domain?

Your best option as already indicated is to hire a consultant. So much of what you ask is beyond the scope of a forum.

Don't think of the server in the same way as a home built workstation. THis is not something that should be built in a white box. Something like a Mid Range HP, Dell etc server will be the best option. Processor - pretty much anything will do for those number of users.

Exchange is more critical to get storage correct, but that depends on a lot of factors.

If you haven't already bought Exchange, then get it with Software Assurance, as there will be a new version of Exchange within the next 12 months.

Simon.

As an alternative: Hosted Exchange.
