Crew
Ok, here is the story. Just started a new job at a small company based in London. Current IT infrastructure is: - 2 oldish dell servers, one running SBS 2003, the other Server 2003 Standard - around 25 workstations - some Mac's connecting remotely via pop for mail Anyway, the previous IT manager bought some new servers, but didnt think too hard about the licensing requirements, as such we have 2 poweredge servers sitting in their boxes with OEM editions of Server 2003 Enterprise, which as you would guess, is complete overkill, not to mention it would also require us having to also purchase Exchange 2003. So my question is this, can we return/exchange these OEM licenses for what we actually want, which is SBS 2003 premium and Server 2003 standard? Hope someone out there can help Cheers Mat |

Sounds like you need to talk to Dell about that.
Is your current version of SBS an OEM version?

Yes - it is an OEM, only for distribution with new server license.
I spoke to Dell briefly this afternoon and they are getting back to me, but all indications are that we are screwed. Which means I will now have to go out and buy Exchange as well. Not looking forward to the migration... |

Don't know if you already bought the CALs you need but if not you should check out the Transition Pack

Thanks for that Jeremy, I will definately look into it. MS Licensing is not exactly the easiest thing to get your head around.
