Default some router probs.

hello,
i have configured a small network between 2 WS. win98+and wn xp, and a d-link rauter. all works fine ,only lately i cant get to some sites. no meter in in which WS .
if i disconected the rauter .all sites will load.
i have been told that i need to change some MTU settings. is it so ?
can someone can be more specific ?
