Default Unabled to join Win XP machines to Win 2003 network
Hello folks,

I'm having some problems. Cannot resolve dns server name using nslookup from the xp box. All settings seem correct also.

xp dns points to ad/dns server. ad/dns server points to itself and resolves nicely on server box. dcdiag and dnsdiag showed passes EXCEPT DHCP but thats probably related to DNS issue. I have static IPs assigned so DHCP should not be an issue.

I have plugged the setup into a switch without using the ISP modem/router and ran ipconfig /flushdns - /registerdns on both xp and server. Result is still the same. I also did this while disabling the firewall.

Please help!

Problem was fixed - reinstall w2k03 server OS

I would say that's a bit drastic but glad your sorted!

Not quite, but I've "acquired" two servers from a company where the MDs attitude is "throw away at the slightest problem" Both required a bit of work (less than an hour each) and are not the latest kit, but still good. I offered to repair them and was told "just take them away"
