Hi All,
I tried to update Windows Server 2003 which is serving as my GC and DC as well, it failed with error, Here is the error message: Please change your Internet Explorer security settings To save changes to your settings for this website, you need to enable userdata persistence for Internet Explorer. Complete the steps below, and then click Change settings to the left and try saving your changes again. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options. Click the Security tab, click the Internet security zone icon, and then click Custom Level. In the Settings dialog box, scroll to the Miscellaneous section. Under Userdata persistence , select Enable. Click OK and when the security warning dialog box appears, click Yes. Read more about steps you can take to resolve this problem (error number 0x800A0046) yourself. any idea how to enable the update again please ? Thanks. ________ BMW K1100LT Last edited by Albertwt; 21st January 2011 at 13:13.. |

Did you follow the suggested steps? How did it fail?
Do you have a GPO changing IE settings? The advanced tab of IE has a reset option too. It isn't entirely clear either what update you are trying, your title says 2003 R2 SP2 update failed but is this installing the SP2 update onto R2 (which has problems) or additional windows updates.

Hi,
0x800A0046.... this is permission denied error so check that your account has administrative rights for that server. Because for live update Administrative rights required. |

Thanks for responding to this thread.
I am domain administrator and I was trying to do the Windows Update through IE7. I've applied the Service pack already though, and so far I was fine before applying the SP 2 ________ Harley-Davidson FLSTS Last edited by Albertwt; 21st January 2011 at 13:13.. |
