Hello there!

I'm facing this issue:
During a Windows Update on a Virtual guest with Windows 2008 Datacenter, the host failed and now I have half patches correctly updated and the other half as "failed". If I try to execute the windows update again it tells me that there are no new update to install. So, how do I restore the previous situation so that I can install all missing updates including failed ones?

Make a note of the failed patches, ie the KnowledgeBase number and download them via MS webiste:

http://support.microsoft.com/search
or
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx

Then run each one to install. You do not need to reboot after each one, just reboot when all are done.

Thanks for your answer, actually I knew I could download them one by one,
I forgot yo specify to ask that I was looking for something to reset the list of "failed" patches, so that on the next windows update they were automatically downloaded and installed.
If there is no way to do it, pity....I'll do it manually
