Default dual boot refuse

hello
i've got windows xp (ntfs) on one hard disk (master) and windows 98 se on the second hard disk (fat32,slave).
Both work good alone

i want to have dual boot
i wrote boot.ini :

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows 98 SE"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professionnel" /fastdetect

XP ok but it doesn't want to boot 98
what is the problem and how to resolve it ?

Best way to go is install windows 98 first and then windows XP.
One partition will be ntfs for security, performance etc (XP partition) slave disk and other (windows9 master will be fat32.
It's easy.
:P

instead of:
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows 98 SE"
should be something like:
D:\="Microsoft Windows 98 SE"

Windows 98 likes to be on the drive that boots first. If it is on the secondary HDD, it has possibly taken D as it's drive letter. Make sure that the BIOS is set to boot from the D drive.

You do not set that think on the BIOS. THe disk partition that is mark as ACTIVE is the boot disk.
Windows 98 should boot from any partition, but if you install XP and windows 98 you should first install windows 98 in cfat32)dxp ntfs or fat32).
It will wok fine for sure

Sorry, but that is rubbish.

Windux, my apologies. Poor choice of words due to circumstances at the time.

What you say is not correct. If you install Windows 98 on to the second HDD and instruct the BIOS to boot from the C drive, Win98 ain't going to start.
