Hi ... fairly new (joined over a year ago but been hectic lately) and from Australia.

I've been working on/with computers for about 10 years now and know enough to get into trouble. Done a couple of University courses over the last four/five years but would like to increase my knowledge and skills. My family think I'm becoming a permanent student and was refered to this site by my then lecturer...

hi Reinhard *wave* if you see this

Currently attempting to study MCSE with the help of Quick Cert training DVD's and make something stick in this 40+ blonde female brain.

Hello John! Sounds like you've got some fun things ahead of you. And... I'm going to go out on a limb here... your last name... could it possibly be "Miller"?

Twisties34, nice to have your Australian 40+ blonde female brain here. The "permanent student" mentality is actually a benefit in this line of work. Keep it up!

At the risk of sounding like a salesman, have a look at the Train Signal products and even purchase 1 Lab to see if the learning style works for you. http://www.trainsignal.com/Microsoft-Training-C4.aspx or http://www.trainsignal.com It does for me and my favourite story is I viewed the ISA 2004 Lab over a weekend and the following week installed and configured it with Rules running in less than an hour while the client was watching. He was impressed and I didn't tell him it was my first ISA 2004 install. If Train Signal could cook, I would marry it.

Just wanted to say hi to all.

Have been using this site for a while now and besides getting information from it by lurking in the background, I've got some questions to ask as well so I thought I'd sign up to the forum

Just some background info:
27 year old System Administrator who used to work in an enterprise environment [Microsoft OS based, around 15k users worldwide] and have now moved on to a smaller company that does the entire IT solution for small/medium businesses [up to about 100 users].
MCSA 2003 certified and going for MCITP:Enterprise Administrator soon.

Apart from that, just basically a hi to all

Default Salutations

Hello everyone!

I will start by thanking everyone that ever posted on this site, it has been a tremendous help for me when I have had problems with Exchange 2003/2007, SBS 2003/2008, VPN, SonicWall...etc.

I am an IT Manager (net admin, or whatever you want to call it....plug-it-in go-to-guy) for a small chain of bookstores in GA. I am A+ Certified, and I have been into the computer game for about 14 years, although most don't count the teenage years as wisdom years. Well, there is something to be said about learning from one's mistakes, and as a young person in a complicated field I have made many and learned from others mistakes as well.

Thanks for having me!

Lovely to have you! Enjoy your stay. expect this thread to be merged with the proper welcome thread though. Check this post of the official forum rules out if you're unsure what I mean.

P.S. Teenage years can be wisdom-gathering years. I learned that concrete curbs and kneecaps do not like being introduced at high velocities while goofing off on rollerblades. Oh, and that whole "try to burn down the house" thing taught me a few lessons too.
