Default Hide a specific App Icon on desktop

We have about 60 users that logon to our 4 TS servers, however we have a new group that is now connecting in order to use some of our shared resources, such as files and email. However we have a business application icon that we have in the Public/Public Desktop they should not have access to. I have removed the shared drive location, however there is still a way for an ambitious person to setup the app to work.

I looked through GPO and find was to hide certain icons but I want to be able to hide this specific icon from our new group of users.

Any help is appreciated.

Delete the icon from the Public\Desktop folder and copy it to the Desktop folder in the profiles of the users that need it and are allowed to run it.

It just seems that there should be a GPO to help this out. I was hoping to not have to create per user.

You could use desktop / start menu redirection. That way you can use access based enumeration and explicitly deny access to the shortcut. This way the short cut will not display.

I have just set this up for a terminal environment for a start menu
