When I try to open the Active Directory Users and Computers, DNS, DHCP and Microsoft Management Console (MMC) does not open and I do not receive an error message.

When did it stop working?
Has it ever worked?

Have you tried typing "dsa.msc" in run?

Have you installed anything recently hardware / software?
Is the anyhting in your event logs that would suggest you have a problem?

Try and open something and review the application event logs.....

Open Taskmanager to terminate any possible running instances of mmc.exe.
Then try to run: cmd /k mmc.exe &echo.%errorlevel%
-any errors shown in the box?-

If that didn't helped,
Browse to "%windir%\system32" open the properties of the file mmc.exe, go to the Version tab.
Can you post the "file version" that is shown there.
Then start Regedit.exe and navigate to the key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{D5AB5662-131D-453D-88C8-9BBA87502ADE}\InprocServer32
could you please post which subkeys are directly visible under this 'InprocServer32' key.

Have you tried already to reinstall MMC.exe version 3 on the computer?

Checking the default msc files,
First check the msc file association in "file options". They should be configured to be Opened with "Microsoft Management Console".

Browse to the current user's folder: "%appdata%\Microsoft\MMC\" and Move all saved config files out of this folder temporary to an other folder.
Then try to start dsa.msc again: cmd /k mmc.exe dsa.msc &echo.%errorlevel%
-any errors shown in the box?-
