Default Replacment motherboard

http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERB...103390nv.shtml

Augsburg 915GV (Similar to Intel D915GVWB) Its for a relatively old machine (Gateway bought by PC world i think..) Theres a few swollen capacitors on the mobo that are causing some random blue screens. Other than that the rest of the build is sound. 300W PSU installed. Must have 1 IDE controller. Minimum of 2 PCI slots. One PCIE x16 and the usual blurb. As you may have noticed its quite an old board. Anyone know of any vendors doing them for a decent price? (Preferably new and sealed in a anti-static bag) or at best a MicroATX mobo that will fit with the same measurments?

Can't you replace the caps???

Wouldn't be hard nor expensive to do.

VLSI? Nah il give that a miss mate. There between 2 PCI slots id need a magnifying glass and a hubble telescope. The last time i picked up a soldering iron was over ten years. I used to do test and repair to a component level. Knowing my luck id probably wet it too much and short everything around it.

Ach ya big wimp

Seriously though if you contact Gateway will they replace it under some sort of warranty??? However if i remember rightly Gateway went down the swany so maybe your going to be stuck.

I remember many moons ago that IBM (amongst other i might add) were hit by this capacitor issue and replaced boards for us with no problem.

Tried eBuyer and SavaStores for boards??

Gateway is still in business though they did sell a portion of their business to MicronPC several years ago, which in turn went into bankruptcy. If you have a Gateway computer purchased from the business unit that was sold to MicronPC you're out of luck. If the computer was purchased from a business unit that remained a part of Gateway you might be able to get support for it.

The whole Gateway/MicronPC story is convoluted, but interesting.

This machine is well out of warranty.I use eBuyer quite regularly for most components and did so with an old Emachine (PC World el cheapo brand where the north bridge blew up and cracked because of another design fault yay) a while back. Looks like im going to have to really dig around as this board and its equivalents appear to be discontinued. Iv seen some on fleabay but im reluctant to buy components from there.

You'd have to hope it's not misplaced on the same shipment as a Hummer truck
What else do we import from the US ??
