Hi,
VMWare ESXi Server I burnt to CD and booted the CD to commence the install. This server does not give me any option to create/import/export VMs etc. It provides an IP which is listed in the config settings of the server (booted from HD where ESXi is installed, press F2 or whatever). vSphere Client is the GUI which allows me to make Virtual Machines. I provide the IP and username/password (all of which I set in the ESXi Server) in the vSphere Client login dialog to connect to the server. I got all of these settings from ESXi Server and correctly entered them. Thanks Last edited by GSS35; 11th December 2009 at 20:30.. |

I do not understand how you installed both ESXi and the vsphere client on the same PC?
Vsphere client requires a Windows OS and .net which is not available in ESXi. Can you please explain more about your situation?

Hi,
ESXi Server I installed by burning to CD and booting the CD. This has an IP which I then connect to from vSphere Client on my OS (it's the GUI admin console). This is the way to go, as people on the VMWare boards state and this is the only way I can actually make the VMs. ESXi Server has config settings, nothing else like the options to make VMs. Thanks |
