Default 64 bit XP is it compatible with 32 bit Apps?

I have a 64 bit capable chip in my PC which has 32 bit XP installed. I am wondering whether all my Apps would still work if I installed the 64 bit version? I know the answer to this question may depend on exactly which Apps are installed- however is there a general answer to this question. Is it the case that XP 64 bit is backwords compatible with XP 32 bit

Yes, you can run 32 bit apps in 64 bit Xp version. They run on the WOW64 Subsystem alongside 64 bit apps that run natively.

Be aware that you can only install Windows Signed Drivers on an XP 64 bit machine. Gets messy.
