Default Re-Home - New Server not showing up?

I'm in the process of moving Exchange from an old server (also DC) to a new dedicated Exchange server. Both servers have Exchange 2003 Enterprise SP2 installed.

So far I've managed to rehome all public and system folders OK, and have moved my mailbox over and thats working fine. But when I came to rehome the Offline Address Book, when I try and browse for the new Exchange server to select, it doesn't show up?

I tried the same for RUS and that also doesn't show my new exchange server, even when I do a Find Now, it only lists my old server.

Any ideas why this is? Do I need to add another MX record in DNS for the new server at all for it to find it?

Thanks!

Andy

MX records have nothing to do with it.
Exchange doesn't use them internally.

It would tend to point to either a service not running, or something wrong with the installation. I would start by running the Exchange Best Practises tool, and see whether that flags anything.

Simon.

Thanks.

Ran the Exchange Best Practice tool and showed up a load of errors with the old server (not surprised as its built on a DC as well, but way before I started here) but the new server showed up pretty much OK. Then I spotted I had the new server as a front end, dont know how I did that, think it was when I was looking at OWA, but anyway, i removed that, rebooted and it then showed up so I could rehome the offline address book and RUS.

Thanks for your help.
