Hi,

I have installed Exchange on a single server with all 3 roles

Server 1
-----------
HUB
CAS
Mail Box

then added another server with the 3 roles

Server 2
-------------
HUB
CAS
Mail Box

then removed mailbox role from the second server
exchange is working fine with no issues.

now need to seperate the mail box role so that i can implement a cas array.

installed the mail box role on the third server
Server 3
--------------
Mail Box Role.

now when i try to access the mail box server or create a new mail box database it throws an error as follows:

Error:
Failed to connect to target server "my server name which has MailBox role". Error:WMI exception occured on the server 'my server name':Access is denied. (Exception for HRESULT:0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

this is what i get when i try to create a new mail box database.

is there any method we need to follow to make this working fine so that i have
the following :

Server 1 - CAS & HUB
Server 2 - CAS & HUB

Server 3 - Mail Box

and have them working fine...????

once this works fine i will implement CAS Array..

Hi,

Did you had any errors while running the Setup of the 3rd mailbox role ?
also , there are reports that creating new databases might introduce delays as for the change to pickup, and databases will not mount.

are the management tools on the 3rd mailbox role working properly ?
did you try to run the Exchange Best Practice analyzer against your servers?

Hey I tried it again and then it gives me a RPC not available error.
im doing the 3rd server on a VM

now what i am doing is :

Server 1 - Exchange 1 (physical server) - CAS & HUB
Server 2 - Exchange 2 (physical server) - CAS & HUB

Server 3- Exchagne 3 (virtual server) - HUB & Mail Box Roles

the first 2 server are installed with 2 NICs and has NLB Installed so that once this works i can create a CAS array.

Hope this works for me.
let me know if you have any inputs.

Hi,

i'd advice you to remove the hub role from the virtual mailbox server, you already have two so i believe it should be more then enough..

as for the RPC error, when and where are you receiving it ?
management console ?
outlook connection ?

does the server operates correctly ? i mean it has connectivity to AD and the other servers ?
make sure DNS resolution for all servers is correct, that is the FQDN of all servers point to the correct IP you wish to connect to.

client access array is simple, once you've set it up - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../dd351149.aspx , just make sure each Database has the RpcClientAccessServer setting configured properly.
