Hi,
Hopefully someone would be able to help me in this. I have a SBS 2003 running AD/DHCP/WINS. It was issuing IP addresses fine until yesterday. I have a couple of WS that cannot ping or get an IP address automatically via the DHCP server. If you try to give the WS a static IP address, the icon at the task bar solidifies and you still cannot ping either the DC or the router. The IP address of the SBS 2003 is the following: Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : DC-CCTX Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : CCTX.local Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : CCTX.local Ethernet adapter Server Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Network Connection Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-C0-9F-25-D4-C9 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.254 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 I have done the following commands on the WS: ipconfig /flush dns, ipconfig /register dns, netsh winsock reset. The IP address of the WS (it always had static IP assigned to it) is the following: Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : TNWS Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No Ethernet adapter Server Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-18-8B-20-58-63 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.32 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.254 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 The DHCP server is also acting wierd. I deleted and recreated the scope, restarted the server, recreated the DNS, but nothing is working. The DHCP is showing address leases with BAD_ADDRESS. Look at the attached file DHCP Address Leases.txt for detailed information. If I try to add a Reservation, it comes up as Inactive. Also I have attached the DHCP Statistics Screnshot. I also have 2 NetGear RangeMax WNDR3700. They were working fine till the issue started. Now they cannot get IP addresses via DHCP or even if I give them Static IP Addresses, it still does not make a difference. I had one installed behind an old switch. I removed the switch and directly connected it to my NetGear Gigabit Switch and it found the DHCP. I first thought that the Firewall must be enabled. I double checked that it is not and I also disabled Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) in Services. Assuming if Windows Firewall is corrupted, I ran CEICW and got an error during the Firewall Configuration. I also attached the icwlog.txt file. I did see some errors, but could not deduce with the help of Microsoft TechNet or Google on how to resolve them. I also tried running the Change Server IP Address Wizard (I entered the static Server IP address of 192.168.0.1 again). It also created an error. I have attached the changeiplog.txt file too. Ping from DHCP Server is also slow. Look at the ipaddresses.tx file for more information. I am running out of ideas on how to resolve these issues. Help would really be appreciated. quick question, I've scanned your post and don't see it written there, but i may have scanned too quickly (I do that.)
Have you restarted the DHCP Service? Yes. I now see you have restarted the server. Here's what I'd do (yes, it's annoying) setup a DHCP server on another device - it might be a spare server, it might be your router. either way, ensure it's authorised turn OFF dhcp on the server. now, reun ipconfig /release | ipconfig /renew on a couple of the workstations See if they are able to obtain addresses. then, completely kil lall the dhcp databases, remove and reinstall the service

Check for physical network problems. Try to isolate network segments. Maybe you have a faulty NIC, switch, router, cable...
