Hello,
I would like to upgrade one of our DC's from MS2008R2 Standard to MS2008R2 Enterprise. This would be for enabling Active Directory Certificate Services. I have read where I can use Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool. "DISM" If I use "DISM" would I have to demote the DC that I want to install it on to a member server or can I leave it a DC and just run "DISM"? The DC that I want to upgrade is not the FSMO holder. Is it wise to implement "DISM" on a DC or should it be a member server? Thank you... |

Why not just re-insert the opriginal disk and do an upgrade to enterprise and have you key ready to install.
Please note that i would if possible enure that the system is backed up as much as possible and you have another DC to work from in the event that the upgrade. Using DISM follow these instructions: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...0-0cc11e3caec2 |

That is what my initial plan was. I did not know about that and was wondering if there was any advantage of doing it that way. We do have the media and the key.
Thank you |

No advantage whatsoever.
Try the DISM method first though as the upgrade MAY affect your DC. |

Wullieb1,
Are you saying to try DISM first before a CD-Media upgrade? Thank you... |
