Default Problem Installing Scanner drivers

Hello,

till now i was using Win 98 and i never had any problems with 98 compatible S/Ws or H/Ws.

but recently i bought a new PC and installed XP pro (SP1) and i am not able to use my Scanner on it.

Scanner - Acer ScanPrisa 640P (Parallel port).

i tried googling it, tried using the 2 methods (though they are relatively same) but still could not use the scanner.

link 1 - http://www.driversearch.com/forums/scanner/2819.html

link 2 - http://forums.driverguide.com/showthread.php?t=17570

if you see the pdf file, in the end it will ask to open photoshop and click on Twain_32..., and here i should mention that i never found this option in PShop (i am using ver 7).

on the BenQ site, (sorry, i could not find the link now), it was said that delete few files from your system and try fresh install just like link 1.
Quote:
files were: (saved this page few days ago and the characters are from other language)

C:\Windows (or Winnt) \Inf\98scan.PNF

¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K.acerscan.inf

¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K..¡K..acerscan.PNF

¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K..¡K..2Kscan.inf

¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K..¡K..2Kscan.PNF

¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K..¡K..Xpscan.inf

¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K..¡K..Xpscan.PNF

¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K..¡K..Xscan_xp.inf

¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K..¡K..Xscan_xp.PNF
so i just moved these files (not all were present) and not deleted them, installed a fresh copy of scanner and still no help.

the error it usually gives on using Scanner is like: cannot find TWAIN source, or something on similar lines.

could somebody please help me? it's driving me mad.

What is your Parallel Port set to in the BIOS? SPP, EPP, ECP or EPP+ECP? In not yet set, try EPP or EPP+ECP.

If anyone had a suggestion it would have posted. My suggestion is to get a better scanner as this one is no getting on. Please do not post back telling me it is working fine. Thanks.
