I have a customer running SBS 2003 and they have a 3rd party retail management package that is cause a lot of grief. It uses MySQL as the database engine and has this process that runs in the background on startup that goes through all the transactions and processes them.
These transactions get processed at 4:00 a.m., otherwise the service runs idle. What is happening is the service runs amuck and runs the CPU up to 90% - 100% grinding the network to a halt. If we go into Task Manager and kill the service during the day, everything is fine. Then someone manually starts the process up around 10:00 at night. Is there a way to automatically start and stop the process, maybe using a Sheduled Task and the Kill utility? Otherwise TIA |
