Powerpoint presentation activate office object

PowerPoint: Adding an Office Object to a Presentation
Office allows referencing another Office application within a document as an icon (see Office: Adding another Document to an Office Document as an Icon) and clicking on it to open. However, when trying to implement this option within a presentation, the next slide is displayed. That is – unless we do some additional tweaking:

  1. Within PowerPoint’s editing screen select the icon
  2. In the Slide Show menu select Action Settings
  3. Under Object action define Open

Having done so the icon is activated by a hyperlink hand, and not by click, thereby solving the conflict.
The Office object will open in a separate window.
