With hundreds of Windows NT/2000/2003/XP and Exchange 2000/2003 related tips, tricks and how-to articles, Petri.co.il has become one of the world's leading MCSE and IT related knowledge bases. The Petri.co.il Forums are now a gathering place for thousands of IT specialists, while providing free support tips and answers to many IT related questions.

For more than 6 years people have come to this site seeking help in their pursuit of knowledge. Starting out as a small personal site, Petri.co.il has become the gathering place for tens of thousands of students and fellow instructors. See some Site Reviews for more info.

Although Petri.co.il has become a top-ranking site, its goals and features will always remain constant: a resource which is clean, straightforward, and guaranteed to remain nag-free while providing easy to read yet comprehensive knowledge resources.

Always offering free and comprehensive knowledge, Petri.co.il will help you in achieving your goal - to become a true IT professional. It will do so not by telling you what the right multiple-choice answer is (like most other certification related sites), but by showing you how to think and work in real-world scenarios, and it will do so in a clear and understandable language.

Some historic facts

6 years ago Daniel Petri was famous for his "Petri NT 4.0 MCSE" tests. Back then, no MCSE student had dared to go to the actual MCSE exams without first practicing on Daniel's test packs - which, at that time, were given for free. Then, in the beginning of 2000 Daniel had to stop publishing his test packs because of some brute-force harassing by a Transcender-appointed bully lawyer. Because Daniel couldn't afford to go head on with a law firm that was hired by a multi-million dollar company he has decided to step down.

Nevertheless, at that time Microsoft stopped the NT 4.0 certification track, so no great harm was done. Right at that time and moment Daniel had decided not to proceed with the successful model of a "test and certification" related site, but to provide the same knowledge in the form it is presented today.

Nowadays Daniel is busy with adding content to the site at a rate of approximately 10 new articles per month.

This site has had over 32 million hits and over 900,000 unique visitors in the last month, and by looking at the traffic reports generated each week, these numbers will greatly increase as time goes by. Already today Petri.co.il comes out first when searching for specific IT related terms, mostly because of increasing popularity, but also because no other sites offer the same span of free information.

Site goals

Daniel Petri has since then tried to provide the most information he can, for two purposes:

  1. To enable those seeking MCSE and related Microsoft certifications to build the background knowledge base so they can succeed not only in passing certification tests, but also in the workplace world. On this site, "getting the right answer" is not the major object; understanding *why* the answer is right is far more important.
  2. To assist working IT professionals in Microsoft shops to find the information they need for practical problem-solving. Often a problem, by its very nature, is something outside our immediate experience, and we need to-the-point information quickly in order to solve it.

Since this is the basis of the MCSE experience (or at least it *should* be), many resources offered here can support the Windows IT professional.

Site name change

Petri.co.il was formerly known as "MCSEworld by Daniel Petri" and still has many references to the old name all over the Internet. This change was made in the second half of 2005, in order to distinguish Daniel Petri's site from other site's holding similar names. With time we hope that these links to Petri.co.il will change and reflect its new name.
